Dean Schofield admitted he can’t wait to get back out on the pitch when Warriors visit London Irish next Saturday.
With the LV= Cup taking centre stage for much of March, Warriors will have had a three week break from action when they travel to the Madejski Stadium in ten days time.
And after helping his side to their first league victory of 2013 last time out, Schofield is looking forward to facing the team one place below them in the Aviva Premiership table.
He said: “It’s going to be a great match against London Irish. We will go there, pull our socks up and hopefully come away with a win.
“They’re a dangerous team and have a lot of dangerous strike runners. They’ve been in good form recently and are still fighting to avoid relegation so it is a massive game for them.”
The clash coincides with Irish’s annual St Patrick’s Day Party and thousands of fans are expected to flock to the Madejski Stadium.
“It’s a party day for them and it is their biggest day of the season because of the celebrations,” continued Schofield.
“That will put even more pressure on them and it won’t be a party atmosphere on the pitch. We’re looking forward to playing in front of 20,000 fans and we’re desperate to come away with a win.”
Despite the break from action, the Warriors players have been training hard as they prepare themselves for the end-of-season run-in.
And the lock was also delighted to meet fans at last week’s supporters event. He stated: “The players met with supporters last week and we had some good conversations.
“It’s great to hear what the fans have to say as they come and watch us every week. We’re fortunate in rugby to have a close relationship with the supporters.”
With five games of the season remaining, Schofield is urging his teammates to ensure they finish the season on a high.
He added: “We’re playing a good style of rugby and it’s really important we keep the momentum going for the rest of the season. We’ve got to finish well and set a marker down for next season.”
