Jones and Vesty join Warriors coaching staff

Worcester Warriors have today announced that Ceri Jones and Sam Vesty are to become part of the coaching set-up at Sixways.

Jones, 36, joined Warriors in 2011 and the former Wales international, who won two caps for his country, has made a total of 27 appearances in the front row for the club.

The vastly experienced prop previously made over 200 appearances for Harlequins after starting his career at his home town club Newport.

Jones is currently undergoing long-term rehabilitation for a serious Achilles injury suffered against Saracens last season. However, his role at Sixways will now see him assist Dean Ryan’s new-look coaching team after being appointed Scrum Coach.

Former England international Vesty, 31, becomes part of the backroom set-up after being named Academy Transition Manager.

Vesty previously enjoyed a successful spell at hometown club Leicester between 2002 and 2010, playing 157 games and earning two England caps. In 2010 he moved to Bath Rugby and finished his career at The Rec with 64 appearances.

Ryan said he was delighted that both Jones and Vesty would play a coaching role at Warriors and join the likes of newly appointed Defence Coach Simon Cross in striving to make a name for themselves at Sixways.

“I want Worcester to be creating and developing the next generation of talented young coaches and see that as vitally important to the future of the club,” said Ryan.

“Both Sam and Ceri are taking their first steps into coaching and are eager to make a positive impression. They have lots of experience to pass on and I know both will work tirelessly for the Warriors.”
