Atmosphere excites summer signing Mieres

Summer signing Ignacio Mieres says he can’t wait to experience the atmosphere at Sixways on matchdays.

The fly-half scored nine points in a 31-26 victory for Exeter Chiefs on his last appearance in Worcester in April 2012 – but now admits he can’t wait to pull on the gold and blue home shirt when he runs out in front of the Warriors crowd.

He said: “I remember the great atmosphere at Sixways whenever I’ve played here. There’s always a big crowd supporting Worcester and it’s always a hard game for the away team.

“Now I’m really looking forward to playing at Sixways and I’m very excited about it. As longs as we play well and we get good results, that’s all I care about.”

Mieres has been showcasing his skills alongside his new teammates since returning to pre-season training last month.

And the 26-year-old admits he has been impressed by the positivity at the club since his arrival.

He continued: “The environment is very good and you can feel the good vibes around the squad. The club is sort of rebuilding itself because so many new coaches and new players have come in.

“They want something different and they want to be really successful and you can see that by the hard work everyone is putting in.”

Mieres will be aiming to make his debut for Warriors when his side travel to Welford Road to face Leicester Tigers on the opening weekend of the campaign.

And with the squad busy preparing for the clash with the champions, Mieres insists that work-rate will be an essential component for success this term.

He added: “We’re all looking forward to the Leicester game and we know we’re going to have to work very hard to be competitive and to create chances in those kind of games. But we’re doing absolutely everything we can to be the best we can be.”
