Andress aiming to create winning habit

John Andress believes victory against Sale Sharks this Saturday will help the Warriors players get into a winning habit.

Warriors face Sale in their second Amlin Challenge Cup match of the campaign after securing a 9-9 draw at Oyonnax in difficult conditions last weekend.

The two Premiership sides face each other five times this campaign and, according to the prop, victory would set Warriors on their way this season.

He said: “Winning is a habit so if we can get a result in this European fixture it will build confidence when we return to the Aviva Premiership.

“We’re going to be very familiar with Sale as we will be playing them a lot. They’ve been playing very well and have looked particularly strong up front recently, so it will be a good contest.”

Andress has battled with Scotland international Euan Murray for a place at tighthead prop during the early part of the campaign.

The Irishman has started matches against Leicester Tigers, Harlequins and Oyonnax as he enjoys a new lease of life under Director of Rugby Dean Ryan.

And he admits he has relished the new set-up at Sixways. He added: “The intensity of training has increased this season. There’s a completely different structure and a better environment.

“It takes time for new players and coaches to click but we’re all confident we’ll come into our own soon.

“I’m enjoying it. There’s a good culture being created here. It’s been thoroughly enjoyable but it’s been disappointing with the results.

“Personally I’m just going to put my best foot forward and it’s up to the coaches if I’m picked. I want to play and I want to help this side be successful.”
