Fly-half Warwick enjoying return to action

Warriors fly-half Paul Warwick says he is glad to be back on the field after missing the start of the 2013/14 season through injury.

The Australian, who joined from Stade Francais in the summer, made his first full appearance for the club in last weekend’s 9-9 draw with Oyonnax in France.

He said: “It was frustrating coming to a new club and missing the early part of the season but it was very enjoyable to be back in action last weekend.”

Warwick is set to feature again at number ten when Sale Sharks visit Sixways on Saturday in the second Amlin Challenge Cup match of the season.

And he admits it will be a tough challenge against one of the country’s form sides.

He continued: “Sale are a team with good European pedigree and they’ve got some quality players.

“They’re on a roll in the Aviva Premiership and if we can stop their momentum here it will give us a boost going back into our Premiership campaign.

“We’ve been threatening to put things together for some time now and after last weekend’s match we will be taking plenty of confidence into the game.”

Fellow fly-half Ignacio Mieres has impressed this season, racking-up 41 points in his first five Premiership games for Warriors.

And, according to Warwick, both players will be fighting hard to secure the number ten spot at Warriors.

He added: “I’d like to try and make that number ten position mine but there are two other blokes with the same ambition so I’ve got my work cut out.

“I was pleased with my goal-kicking in France but there are always things to work on. Hopefully I will be sharp against Sale.”

Seated tickets in the East and North Stands for Saturday's clash are available from just £15 for adults and £7.50 for juniors. To secure your seat call 01905 459309, visit the Warriors Box Office or click here.
