Dean Ryan admits Warriors were beaten by a better team after Exeter Chiefs ran away with a 40-6 victory against his side.
Six tries for Exeter gave the hosts a bonus-point victory at Sandy Park after a tough afternoon in Devon.
Ryan said: “The result is a reflection of a side being better than us. They got more on collision than we did. The back five of their scrum were big and active and that gave them a huge amount of work-rate.
“It allowed them to protect their front row a little bit. And it was very difficult to get over the gain-line.”
Warriors conceded two early tries against a strong Exeter side but enjoyed much of the possession in the first period.
And the Worcester Director of Rugby insists his side never let their heads drop.
He added: “I couldn’t ask for any more from the team today. I thought they made a massive emotional effort.
“If you’re not at the same stage as the opposition, it will ultimately tell. All we can do is keep working at things and trying to get better.”
Ryan praised the structure at Exeter last week and believes his side can learn from their set-up.
He continued: “I remember running around and over the top of Exeter ten years ago.
“At some stage they stopped it and put things in place to work it out. They have been patient for it and that’s what it looks like at the end. It’s exactly what we’re trying to do.”
