Forward pack is making progress says Fainga’anuku

Ofa Fainga’anuku believes the Warriors forward pack is making progress despite his side’s loss to Bath Rugby.

With the likes of Fainga’anuku, Agustin Creevy and Leonardo Senatore coming into the side in recent weeks, the pack has looked much stronger.

And, according to the Tongan, the forwards have become much more competitive in recent weeks.

He said: “The pack is starting to look more solid and we’re being competitive against some very good opponents.

“A lot of things are being asked of us as individuals and each individual is trying to do those things. We’re in control at certain times in matches but those simple turnovers and penalties are letting us down.”

Fainga’anuku made his home debut against Bath after impressing during last weekend’s clash with Exeter.

And the prop admits he was delighted with the support he and the team received in front of the biggest Sixways crowd of the season.

He continued: “It was very important for me to put on a good performance on my home debut and I was pleased with most parts.

“I was playing in front of the supporters for the first time and my family were here – I want to make Worcester my home.

“The supporters at Sixways are fantastic and that’s what we need in the hard times. Everyone needs to stay together.”

Warriors take a break from Aviva Premiership action when they travel to Cardiff Blues in the LV= Cup next Friday.

And Fainga’anuku insists his team will keep fighting for that first win. He added: “The only way is up. The LV= Cup is coming up and hopefully we can regroup there. We will work to get that win – that’s the most important thing.”
