Flanker Abbott ruled out with ACL injury

Jake Abbott is set for an enforced spell on the sidelines after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in Friday night’s match against Leicester Tigers.

The flanker left the field after 20 minutes of the LV= Cup clash and is likely to be ruled out for the coming months while he recovers from surgery.

Abbott has enjoyed a fine start to life under Dean Ryan, appearing in every match this season.

Director of Rugby Ryan said: “The loss of Jake leaves a big hole in the squad and we will miss his relentless energy on the pitch.

However I have no doubt that Jake will approach this challenge with the same determination and commitment that he always displays around the club.”
