Becasseau – Biarritz can be beaten up front

Prop Jeremy Becasseau insists Warriors can defeat French side Biarritz at Sixways this Thursday in Round 3 of the Amlin Challenge Cup.

The former Stade Francais player believes the position he plays in, the front-row, is an area where his side can dominate their opponents.

He said: “I played against Biarritz at the end of last season in the Top 14 and they were a physical side.

“They have a tall front-row that will have an impact on the game but with the new laws, their height may cause them problems in the scrum so hopefully we can test them in that position.”

After a solid display for the majority of the match against Northampton Saints last weekend, Becasseau feels that a similar performance will give Warriors an advantage against the French outfit.

He continues: “If we can produce the display we showed for the first hour of the Saints game, I think we will come out on top.

“It is a chance for us to improve our game and show what we have worked hard at in the last few weeks.”

Biarritz lie bottom of the French Top 14 at the halfway point in their season and, like Warriors, they will be hoping for a positive performance in Europe to transfer into their domestic campaign.

Becasseau added: “They are struggling at the moment. I think they were poor in detail at the start of the season.

“Like us, they will use this competition to try and improve things and will want to take that into the Top 14 to help them move up the table.

“They have some top-class players but they may rest some so we will have a great chance to pick up a result on Thursday.”

Seated tickets for Thursday's clash are available from £15 for adults and £7.50 for juniors and are available by calling 01905 459309, visiting the Warriors Box Office or clicking here.
