Captain calling for emotional performance

Warriors Captain Jonathan Thomas has called for an emotional performance from his side as they head into battle with Leicester Tigers in the Aviva Premiership at Sixways tonight (kick-off 7.45pm).

After a disappointing result against Exeter Chiefs last weekend, the Welshman insists his side must change their mindset in order to pick up victory against the reigning Aviva Premiership champions.

He said: “Last weekend was very disappointing but we have to put it behind us. Now we need to focus as a group.

“We need to get ourselves into an emotional state and see this as one of the biggest games of our lives and if we do that, we have a chance of being competitive.”

Leicester will be without a number of their stars who are away on international duty in the Six Nations.

But Thomas insists Tigers won’t be short of strength and depth when they travel to Sixways looking to make ground on the top four.

He explains: “They’ve got players away on international duty but you find with sides such as Leicester’s quality that they’ve got good enough players to step in.

“So we still expect a tough game. They have a big forward pack and their squad is full of players that are particularly good at knowing their game-plan inside out.”

The Warriors skipper is also calling for the full support of the fans in order to help drive the team over the line under the Friday night lights.

He continues: “Friday night games always get great support at Sixways and we will look to feed off that atmosphere and produce a big performance against Leicester.

“There are ten games to go and it’s almost like knockout rugby for us.

“Words mean very little so what we have to do is show emotion through our actions on the pitch, give our fans something to shout about and get some pride back in the jersey.”

Tickets for the match are available from as little as £15 for juniors and £23.50 for adults. Please click here to book, visit the Warriors Box Office or call 01905 459309.
