New boy Lamb excited about Warriors career

Warriors’ new signing Ryan Lamb has revealed he is looking forward to pulling on the gold and blue after joining from Leicester Tigers.

The fly-half will provide more competition for the number 10 jersey and admits he can’t wait to get started.

He said: “I wasn’t playing a lot of rugby at Leicester and Dean Ryan put the challenge in front of me to come to Worcester.

“The facilities, the history of the club and the fan base here are all fantastic. It’s all very exciting to be a part of and now I can’t wait to get out on the pitch.”

Lamb will be linking up with Director of Rugby Dean Ryan once again after the pair worked together at Gloucester.

And the stand-off admitted he is looking forward to working with some old faces.

He explains: “I know Dean from when I was a young lad down at Gloucester and his coaching is second to none. He can analyse the game better than most people I have met.

“It’s nice to be back working with Carl Hogg and Nick Johnston. They are faces I know so hopefully now I can fit in and bring something to the team.”

After watching Warriors test his former side last weekend, Lamb insists his new team can fight their way up the Premiership table.

He continued: “After that fine performance against Leicester on Friday, things are starting to look up.

“We were very unlucky to lose. We fronted up really well and if we can bring that intensity week-in week-out and do that for the remaining nine games, I’m sure we will be fine.”

The fly-half is a strong goal-kicker having amassed 932 points in 133 appearances, but after Chris Pennell’s fine form with the boot last weekend, Director of Rugby Ryan may have a headache when it comes to deciding who is first-choice kicker.

But Lamb insists if he is called upon, he will step up to the occasion.

He added: “Chris did very well at the weekend. If he does that every time I’m sure Dean would rather he was kicking.

“But I’m a goal-kicker, I like to kick and if I get the chance, I’ll definitely put my hand up.”
