Thomas – Confidence is high for run-in

Captain Jonathan Thomas insists confidence at Sixways is high ahead of the last four games of the season.

After positive displays against the likes of Leicester Tigers, Harlequins and London Wasps and the recent win in Newcastle, Thomas knows his side are capable of testing anyone in the league.

He said: “All the players are confident and we really believe we can get the results we need. I don’t think any side would be looking forward to playing against us in the sort of form we are in.

“It’s knockout rugby for us really now. We’re looking forward to Saturday and it’s a huge game for the club.

“We’re confident on the back of a win at Newcastle and we’ll be looking to keep the pressure on the the Falcons.”

And Thomas admits the win over Newcastle was an important step for his side.

He admitted: “We’ve been unfortunate to come up short in some games so in terms of our development it was crucial that we made the next step and got the win.

“Even though the Newcastle game wasn’t one of our best – it was a positive sign that we had the composure to close the game out.”

Warriors have had a weekend off from Aviva Premiership action which Thomas believes has been a blessing for his side.

He concluded: “With the nature of this stage of the season there are a lot of tired bodies but a week off gives people a chance to rest-up and re-energise for these upcoming crucial games.

“I believe we’ve got the right characters in the squad to fight for this club and whilst it has been a difficult season, we’ve improved immensely and we are a side who are very comfortable with each other and our game-plan.

“Exeter will be tough. It’s out of our hands but if we get our side right by winning our home games and potentially winning one away, we are still in with a shout. But it all starts this Saturday.”
