Youngsters given international call-ups

A host of Warriors youngsters are set for international honours in the upcoming weeks after they were called-up to England age-group sides.

Academy players George de Cothi and Andrew Boyce are in the England Under 19s squad to face France on Saturday 26 April at Broadstreet RFC in Coventry.

There is also an international call-up for Warriors youngster Huw Taylor, who has been selected for the England Under 18s squad to compete in the FIRA/AER European Championship in Poznan, Poland, later this month.

England have reached the final in each of the past three seasons, winning in 2012 and 2013.

Meanwhile Justin Clegg, who is also part of the Warriors set-up, has been named in the England Under 17 training squad.

Moving down the age-groups, Warriors have a number of players representing England Midlands Under 16s in the upcoming Wellington Festival.

Will Butler, Seb Dean-Smith, Ben Fowles, Callius Hutchinson, Charlie Morgan, Joe Morris, Josh Knott, Harry Robinson and Zac Xiourouppa have all been selected for the England Midlands squad ahead of their match against France East this Sunday. They will then take on the Welsh Druids on Wednesday.

Upon completion of the festival, a full England Under 16s team will be selected to play in upcoming matches against Scotland and Wales.

Warriors Academy Manager Mark Hewitt said: “I am delighted to see these youngsters recognised for their hard-work and I wish them well during their time with England.”
