Warriors recruit experienced Nutritionist

Worcester Warriors has strengthened its backroom team further ahead of the 2014/15 season by recruiting Mhairi Keil as the club’s Nutritionist.

Keil will focus on the players’ nutritional requirements to underpin their training programmes and optimise adaptation and performance.

Keil joins Warriors from London Wasps and will also maintain her current role as the lead nutritionist for British Gymnastics, where she supported the men's and women's artistic gymnasts throughout their highly successful London 2012 Olympic Games.

She has worked with a variety of Olympic, Paralympic, and non-Olympic sports teams and individuals since 2006 through a combination of consultancy-based work and her employment with the English Institute of Sport.

Keil’s extensive experience has seen her work as the lead nutritionist for GB Wheelchair Basketball, the English National Ballet School and Company, the Royal Ballet School and Dame Kelly Holmes’ On Camp with Kelly programme for middle distance runners.

Following her arrival Keil said: “My role at Warriors represents a new and exciting challenge for me and I am looking forward to being part of the team at Sixways.

“I will be working closely with players and Chef Tracy Priddey to ensure the nutritional requirements are meeting training demands.

“My role will also see me working alongside the Strength and Conditioning Department to optimise players’ performance and the Medical Department to maintain the health of the players and support them during injury recovery.”

Warriors’ High Performance Director Nick Johnston said: “Our focus has been based around providing players with optimum support off the pitch to ensure they prepare and recover as effectively as possible before and after matches.

“Mhairi has a wealth of experience in elite level sport and her expertise will greatly enhance the players’ all-round programme.”
