Worcester Ladies looking for new recruits

If you’ve ever wanted to follow in the footsteps of Worcester Ladies’ long list of international rugby stars, then look no further.

The women’s section are recruiting across all of their teams and are holding a taster training session and open evening on Thursday 21 August.

It all starts at 7pm on the Westons playing fields at Sixways and everyone is welcome to attend.

The squad benefit from a vastly experienced coaching team which is headed up by former Scotland international Donna Kennedy and ably assisted by Steve Watkins, Jason Allen and the recent edition to the coaching team but familiar face at the club, Katherine Merchant as Backs Coach.

The experience available means that all abilities can be catered for, from coaching the novice to a match-ready condition, to testing the abilities of international names. 

Commenting on the recruitment programme, Ladies 1st XV Manager Dave Guest said: “It’s an exciting time in women’s rugby at the moment with the imminent World Cup and the same is true of the forthcoming 2014/2015 Women’s Premiership season.

“We’re looking to strengthen our squad following a fantastic fourth-placed finish last season with a young team.

“With more options available to us, we now hope to push for another championship-winning season.”
