Warriors Under 18s miss out on victory at Ospreys

Warriors Under 18s missed out on victory over Ospreys after the Welsh side staged a late comeback to win 26-13 on home soil.

Warriors led 10-0 after the first of three periods courtesy of tries from number eight Ben Fowles and wing Will Hollis.

The young Warriors side dominated the first period and could have added further scores, but for a solid defensive display from the hosts.

Ospreys recovered in the second period and scored their first try of the afternoon as Stuart Nicholas received the ball from a line-out and touched down underneath the posts.

Dylan Francis converted for Ospreys before Warriors fly-half Luke White added a penalty to make it 13-7 to the visitors at the end of the second period.

Ospreys had a dream start to the third period as Ewan Gully crossed the line after a well-worked exchange with Gareth Thomas.

And as Warriors began to tire, Ospreys turned the game on its head as Reuben Morgan Williams and Thomas added further tries to secure victory.

Warriors Academy Manager Mark Hewitt said: “Our young side produced some intelligent and entertaining rugby throughout the match, especially in the first period, where they dominated their opponents.

“While Ospreys eventually had too much for us, Sam Vesty and I were delighted with the attitude of the players and we are confident they will continue to develop well throughout the coming season.”
