Creevy and Senatore push Australia in international nail-biter

Warriors duo Agustin Creevy and Leonardo Senatore featured for Argentina on Saturday as they pushed Australia to the limit at Skilled Park, Queensland, Australia.

Argentina found themselves 14-7 down at the break despite a try apiece from Aussie skipper Michael Hooper and the Pumas’ Manuel Montero.

But three Bernard Foley penalties put the hosts in the ascendancy.

An early try for Hooper in the second period extended Australia’s lead before Foley and Nicolas Sanchez exchanged penalties.

And when Pete Betham crossed the whitewash it looked as if victory was secured for the Wallabies at 29-13.

But a spirited comeback from Creevy’s side saw them hit back with tries for Marcelo Bosch and Joaquin Tuculet to bring the score to 29-25 late in the game.

And despite mounting some late pressure on the hosts, Argentina couldn’t make it count and Foley sealed victory with a 32-25 win.

The Pumas host New Zealand on Saturday 27 September in their penultimate Rugby Championship match.
