Pirates and Saracens clashes excite boss Ryan

Dean Ryan admits he is excited by the prospect of two big clashes in the space of three days.

Cornish Pirates travel to Sixways on Saturday (kick-off 3pm) as Warriors look to make it ten consecutive league wins before the club’s second string Cavaliers side host Saracens Storm in the Aviva A League final on Monday (kick-off 7.30pm).

Ryan said: “Cornish Pirates have traditionally played some pretty innovative rugby over the years and they’ll have a big set of forwards. We will probably make three or four changes to the side which played against Yorkshire.

“It’s also been a really great journey in the A League. The benefits have been massive in terms of players playing regularly, creating competition and putting pressure on the senior side.

“We had upwards of 1500 supporters walking into an A League game for the semi-final and they enjoyed it. That Cavaliers side has really represented us well and I’m really proud of their efforts.”

This Saturday sees Warriors reach the halfway point of the Greene King IPA Championship season, having met every team once this campaign.

Despite Warriors flying high in second place in the league, Ryan insists the first part of the season has been a big challenge for his players.

He added: “I’ve been in the Championship before so I knew what was coming and I knew what we needed to do week in week out.

“It’s difficult week to week when you think you’re going in with the ascendency so you drop your emotional levels.

“I haven’t been surprised by how difficult it has been but I think there have been some players who have found it harder than they thought it would be. But that’s part of them growing as players.”

Seated tickets for Saturday’s match against Cornish Pirates are available from £20 by calling 01905 459309, clicking here or visiting the club’s Box Office.

Tickets for Monday’s Aviva A League final against Saracens are available for FREE with a suggested £2 donation to the Warriors Community Foundation and supporters are encouraged to reserve them by contacting the club before the day of the game.
