Warriors by numbers

Warriors are gearing up for an exciting second-half of the season as they look to gain promotion back to the Aviva Premiership.

Following last Saturday’s thumping win at Moseley, Dean Ryan’s men sit just two points behind Bristol at the top of the Greene King IPA Championship table.

And to reflect on a blistering campaign so far, here are a few numbers for you to crunch as the season really starts to heat up…

WINS
• Warriors have won 17 consecutive matches since the opening day of the season.
• This includes 11 straight league wins and a complete six out of six in the B&I Cup heading into this Saturday’s quarter-final with Pontypridd at Sixways.

TRIES
• In 18 matches so far, Warriors have racked up 89 tries. That’s an average of 4.94 tries per game.
• Sam Betty leads the tryscoring charts thanks to his hat-trick at Moseley last weekend, and his 11 tries have come in just ten games.
• Behind him are a host of players including Sam Smith with ten tries, Max Stelling (nine), Tom Biggs (eight) Val Rapava Ruskin (seven) and Mat Gilbert (six).
• Warriors have also amassed 643 points at an average of 35.72 per game, conceding just 284 (15.77 points per game).

APPEARANCES
• Dean Ryan’s emphasis on growing the younger players of the squad has been evident throughout this campaign, especially when taking into account that a total of 51 players have represented Warriors this term.
• 36 of those have also played for Worcester Cavaliers in the Aviva A League.
• Stelling leads the appearances charts with 14 for the first-team thus far, while Ryan Bower, Dan George, Charlie Mulchrone and Darren O’Shea have featured 13 times to date.

CAVALIERS
• Away from the success of the first-team, we have seen Worcester Cavaliers reach the Aviva A League final for the first time in their history.
• They produced 39 tries in their eight Aviva A League games at an average of 4.88 tries a game.
• The Cavaliers tallied up 279 points at an average of 34.88 per game, conceding 155 (19.38 points per match).
• Gilbert topped the scoring charts with five while JB Bruzulier and James Stephenson picked up four apiece.
• Bruzulier and Stephenson also started every game for the Cavaliers while Ben Sowrey and Gilbert also featured in every match for the second-string side.

CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND-UP
• Last Saturday, Warriors went top of the table by three points but three tries in the last seven minutes for Bristol saw them come back to win 29-28 against Yorkshire Carnegie and retain their place at the top of the log.
• Warriors, who are now second, have 55 points from 12 games and are a massive 23 points ahead of Rotherham Titans who sit just outside the play-offs.
• Bristol are top with 57 points, while London Scottish (third) have 41, and Nottingham occupy the fourth play-off spot with 39 points.
