Warriors announce signing of Scotland international Tom Heathcote

Warriors are delighted to announce the signing of Scotland international Tom Heathcote, who will join the Club this summer from Edinburgh Rugby.

The 23-year-old, who has featured for Edinburgh in the PRO 12 and the European Rugby Challenge Cup this season, is considered to be among the most talented young fly-halves in Britain.

Before joining Edinburgh last summer, Heathcote rose through the ranks at Bath Rugby, making his debut for the Premiership high-flyers in 2011 after progressing through the Academy.

In 2013, he was shortlisted for the LV= Breakthrough Player Award after outstanding performances in the early stages of the LV= Cup.

The stand-off went on to score 375 in 53 appearances for Bath before moving to continue his development in Scotland.

Born in Inverness, Heathcote represented England through the age-groups before committing his international future to Scotland.

He received his first call-up to the senior Scotland squad in November 2012 and made his debut later that month in the Test match against Tonga.

Heathcote kicked eight points in Scotland A’s win over England Saxons in 2013 before being selected for his country’s RBS Six Nations squad.

He went on to make two starts for Scotland in the 2013 summer quadrangular tournament against Samoa and Italy.

Heathcote said: “I'm really looking forward to joining Worcester. It is a great opportunity for me to join a club with so much potential and a bright future.

“Having met with Dean Ryan, he outlined his vision for the Club moving forward and it is very much something I want to be a part of and contribute towards.

“With a young squad, great facilities and infrastructure, the Club is very attractive to me as a player.”

Warriors Director of Rugby Dean Ryan said: “I am delighted that Tom has recognised the pathway this Club is on and has chosen to play a role in our future as we look to become a successful Premiership side.

“Tom has experienced international rugby at a young age and has illustrated his talents across different competitions so I have no doubt he will flourish in the environment we are creating at Sixways.”
