Pennell excited by return to action

Chris Pennell admits he is excited at the prospect of returning to the Warriors team when Plymouth Albion visit Sixways on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).

The full-back flew out to the Aviva Stadium last weekend as a travelling reserve for England as his country lost out to Ireland in the RBS Six Nations.

And now Pennell has set his sights on helping Warriors continue their fine form as the Greene King IPA Championship run-in continues.

He said: “I hope to be involved against Plymouth. I had a couple of weeks off before I was with England with a couple of niggles but I completed a full week last week so I’m feeling really good at the moment and I’m looking forward to getting back out there with the lads.”

Pennell last appeared for Warriors in February’s victory over Nottingham after excelling for the England Saxons against Ireland Wolfhounds.

And the 27-year-old admits his latest international venture was another positive experience.

He continued: “It was really positive in terms of being around the players and getting used to that environment again.

“We flew out to Ireland on Friday afternoon and did a team run at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday morning so we had a couple of days out there to settle in.

“I joined in with all the training before the match, which was good. But when I came in from the warm-up, I was ready to play.

“So it’s difficult to put the sub suit on and sit on the bench knowing that whatever happens you’re not getting on the pitch.

“But it was a real privilege to be around that environment again and get my first taste of the RBS Six Nations.”

Seated tickets for Saturday’s game with Plymouth are available from just £20 for adults and £8 for juniors by visiting the Warriors Box Office, calling 01905 459309 or clicking here.
