Hogg – B&I Cup final is whole squad effort

Carl Hogg insists every member of the Worcester Warriors squad has a role to play to ensure his side win their first piece of silverware of the season today.

Warriors travel to Castle Park to face Doncaster Knights in the B&I Cup final after excelling in this season’s competition with eight wins from eight.

And Hogg earlier this week revealed that players who aren’t in the matchday squad will be present to provide additional support.

He said: “The non-playing group are all travelling up to support the matchday squad and that’s indicative of where we are.

“Everyone is travelling in the same direction and everyone is travelling together. And that will be key to our success whether that be Friday night or further down the line. It’s a unity, with everyone working together.”

With Warriors reaching their first cup final since 2008, seven coachloads of supporters will be making the journey to Doncaster.

And Hogg admits the Warriors support should not be underestimated.

He continued: “The crowd is something players will relish. Some will feed off it and that’s part and parcel of the learning process.

“It’s live on Sky and it’s a big event. It’s a significant match for us and one we’ve prepared for very well.”

Since going down to Warriors at the end of January, Doncaster have lost just twice in seven games. And Hogg is well aware of the challenge that his side face this evening.

He added: “Doncaster are a vastly improved side compared to what we faced when we went up there at the start of the season.

“Defensively they are sound and they work hard. They’re a good side and they’ll be strong competition for us.”
