Warriors AASE secure first win

Warriors’ Worcester Sixth Form College AASE side defeated Saracens’ Oaklands College 19-5 last Wednesday to secure their first win of the season.

Sam Hollingsworth, Kai Owen and a penalty try were enough to see-off Oaklands, with Hollingsworth also adding two conversions.

The Warriors side got off to a tough start to the season with narrow defeats to Myerscough College (Sale) and Wyggeston College (Leicester) but now their first win of the season sets them up nicely for the rest of the campaign.

And this Wednesday the youngsters are set to take on Moulton College (Northampton) at Worcester Sixth Form College (kick-off 2.15pm).

AASE Manager Ryan Watkins said: “We've started to develop a really hard working culture this year both on and off the field and I am sure we will continue to progress as a squad each week.”

The AASE programme has also witnessed forward Ted Hill called up for training with the England Under 18 squad – while his brother Max, and lock Ben Davies-Moore were in the squad for Warriors at Saracens last Saturday.

With Warriors placing more emphasis than ever on their Academy structure across the region, the work of the AASE is already paying dividends.
