Arr pledges future to Warriors

Jonny Arr has signalled his intentions to play a key role in Warriors’ long-term progression by penning a new deal to extend his stay at the Club.

The homegrown talent came through the Warriors ranks before making his first-team debut in 2007 and has gone on to become one of Warriors’ senior players with 173 appearances to date, and is the current squad’s highest appearance-maker.

Arr, who turned 27 last weekend, gained international honours with the England Under 20s back in 2008 where he was part of a squad that achieved the Grand Slam in the Six Nations.

Director of Rugby Dean Ryan said: “Jonny epitomises everything we are trying to achieve at this Club.

“He recognises the importance of competition for places to make a strong squad and continues to raise his game.

“His commitment, professionalism and experience are key attributes and he is a great role model for our younger players.

“Jonny will continue to play a significant role at the Club and we’re delighted he’s agreed to pledge his future.”

Arr said: “Having been involved with Worcester Rugby since I was ten, I have witnessed a lot of change at the Club but under the current regime, we are in the perfect place to become the best we have ever been.

“It’s clear to see the development around the Club over the past two campaigns and I want to continue to be a part of developing Warriors into a successful, top-tier side.”

Arr picked up the Young Player of the Year and Most Improved Player of the Year awards after an outstanding 2009/10 campaign and was voted Player of the Season in Warriors’ promotion-winning 2010/11 campaign.

And the scrum-half played an integral part in Warriors’ promotion back to the Premiership last season making 22 appearances while bagging four tries.

He recalled: “Both promotions were special nights during my time at Warriors.

“Hopefully now we’ll be able to push on and I’ll be able to experience plenty more memorable moments throughout this next chapter of my career.”
