Milasinovich eyes regular tighthead spot

Academy starlet Gareth Milasinovich is setting his sights on a regular spot in the Warriors front row.

The huge tighthead has appeared for Worcester Cavaliers and also for Yorkshire Carnegie on a dual registration this season, before making his Warriors debut at home to La Rochelle in November.

And tonight he’s all set for his fourth appearance as Dean Ryan’s side take on Gloucester Rugby.

He said: “The best type of experience is gametime in my eyes. Playing for the Cavaliers is a good level to improve as a player and I learnt a few things playing in the Championship with Yorkshire.

“Hopefully I can now go on and work my way into the Premiership set-up more. I just want to get my head down, keep working and knocking at the door to get more chances to start at the top level.”

Last weekend saw Milasinovich front-up against a Leicester Tigers front row that included internationals such as England’s Dan Cole, Italy’s Matias Aguero and Argentina’s 66-time capped Marcos Ayerza.

And he revealed: “It was a great experience. Those are the types of players you want to be matching up against.

“Ayerza is a very powerful scrummager and has destroyed many scrums so it was a test for me and gives me an understanding of what I need to work on and where I need to be to get to the level he’s at.”

And with the first of back-to-back clashes with Gloucester tonight, he knows he’s going to be tested once again.

He said: “Gloucester have a very good scrum so we’ll have to stick tight as a unit.

“Collisions will also be key. If we can dominate there and provide the backline with plenty of ball hopefully they can work their magic.”

The giant prop has been tying his rugby in with academics in recent months, after studying for a postgraduate degree in Investment Management from the University of Johannesburg.

And he stated: “I’m glad my studies are out the way now so I can concentrate fully on the rugby.”

The young South African stacks in at a giant 125kg and added: “In South Africa we love our meat and I’m no exception.

“I love a good braai, especially a rib-eye steak, burewurs or even some biltong to snack on!”

Milasinovich, who turns 23 on Tuesday, is living in the Academy House and revealed he’s already made some lifelong friends during his time at the Club.

He concluded: “The Academy House is fantastic. I’ve made some very good lifelong friends. Josh Adams, Huw Taylor, Sam Ripper-Smith and Jack Singleton – basically everyone in the house!

“We all get on and have a lot of PlayStation tournaments whether it’s Call of Duty or FIFA and we’re looking at getting a pool table in.

“They also like to watch a bit of Made In Chelsea but I stay clear of that! I’m into Ballers which stars The Rock!”

Tickets are still available to see Milasinovich and his teammates in action against Gloucester tonight by clicking here and will also be available on the gate.
