Warriors raise record amount for Charity Partner Acorns

Worcester Warriors are delighted to announce that the recent charity matchday versus Harlequins has raised over £10,000 for Acorns Children’s Hospice, a record amount in the six years since starting the charity game.

Warriors dedicated their match versus Harlequins on January 3rd to raise money for the charity.

As well as donating tickets the Warriors offered the children at Acorns the opportunity to design the match shirt to be worn at the fixture.

The limited edition shirts were sold pre-game, with the players’ match shirts also being put up for auction to raise money for the charity.

Director of Fundraising at Acorns Louise Arnold said: “This is the perfect conclusion to what has been a signifi-cant 10th anniversary year for our hospice in Worcester and on behalf of everyone at Acorns I want to thank Warriors and all the fans for their incredible support at the match and throughout the year.”

Worcester Warriors Partnership Manager Leyton Williams added: “To raise this amount of money for a charity which is so important to the local community is superb.

“A huge debt of gratitude is owed to the fans, sponsors and partners for coming out in their number to support such a worthy cause.

“The final score may not have been the one we wanted, but the fundraising total is fantastic and will no doubt help Acorns continue providing specialist care for children and support for their families across the region.”

In the past year, Acorns for the Three Counties has cared for over 190 children and more than 250 families, including those who are bereaved, across Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Gloucestershire.

The charity relies on the local community for the bulk of the £9 million it needs to raise each year to continue providing its care.
