Heem – Players and supporters must come through tough period together

Bryce Heem says Warriors’ players and supporters must come together to help the side climb away from the lower echelons of the Aviva Premiership table.

Sunday’s losing bonus point defeat against London Irish leaves Warriors one point off the foot of the table.

But with 11 games of the season remaining Heem insists the Club’s players and supporters can come through the tough period as one.

He said: “The support for the Club has been there throughout the season and it’s time for us as players to give back to our fans and show thanks for all their support.

“We’ll definitely need the supporters throughout the next few games and for the rest of the season.

“Our situation calls for character and for everyone to come together as a team so hopefully we can do that.”

Heem’s try after the break at the Madejski Stadium had given Warriors hope of a second-half comeback against the Premiership’s basement side.

But Andrew Fenby’s score and five points from the boot of Shane Geraghty ensured Irish picked up their third win of the season.

Heem added: “We came out fighting in that second-half but we were chasing the game and it’s always difficult when you’re in that position.

“Our preparation throughout the week was really good, we trained well and we knew what we wanted to do. We just had to put it out there on the pitch.

“It’s going to be a fight to get out of it but we do have a good team. We’ve got good players and we’ve got top-class coaches and management so everyone just needs to stay on board and help us move in the right direction.”
