Three Warriors to start for England U20s against Italy

Four Warriors have been named in the England Under 20 squad for this Friday night’s trip to Italy in the Six Nations (kick-off 6.10 GMT).

Sam Ripper-Smith makes his first appearance of the campaign at openside flanker while hooker Jack Singleton also gets his first start.

Huw Taylor again starts at lock while Jamie Shillcock is named among the replacements.

There are six changes to the starting line-up from last weekend's loss to Scotland ahead of the clash at the Stadio Pacifici, San Dona' Di Piave.

Newcastle Falcons' Callum Chick will captain the side in the absence of the injured Jack Walker.

England U20 Head Coach Jon Callard said: “It is good to be able to give a number of players an opportunity this Friday after others have unfortunately been ruled out with injury.

“The opening loss is in the past and now we have to look forward at ways to improve our performance.  We had 64 per cent possession and the positive is that we had clear chances.

“We want the players to take confidence from that and this week one of our key aims is to be clinical enough to take points from those plays.”
