Ryan pays tribute to England Under 20 players

Dean Ryan has paid tribute to the five Warriors players currently on international duty with England Under 20s during the RBS 6 Nations campaign.

Huw Taylor, Jack Singleton, Sam Ripper-Smith, Andrew Kitchener and Jamie Shillcock are all part of the England squad which has already taken on Scotland.

Ryan said: “It was a pretty poor performance from the England U20s against Scotland last week but the Warriors players were probably the stand-out ones.

“Huw Taylor was outstanding as a starter and you saw the impact of Andrew Kitchener off the bench.

“Sam Ripper-Smith has got an opportunity, which is outstanding and the other guys have a chance to start.”

Ryan has placed a huge emphasis on developing young talent at Sixways since he took over as Director of Rugby in 2013.

And he admits he is pleased by the progress of the Club's young players.

He added: “The whole thing we’re trying to do is provide a place for them to come through and the wheels are moving underneath.

“We’ve got a great representation at Under 17 and 18 level and also at Under 20 level. It’s the first time we’ve seen these sort of numbers starting to appear.”
