Warriors trio star in England Under 20s victory

Three Warriors players starred for the England Under 20s side on Tuesday night as they stormed to a 48-10 victory over Italy in their opening game of the World Rugby Under 20 Championship.

Jack Singleton, Huw Taylor and Andrew Kitchener all played a key role for England as the side dominated from start to finish.

And Singleton continued his impressive scoring record for his country as he dotted down to stretch his side’s lead in the second-half.

The hooker scored four tries against the same opposition in the RBS Under 20s Six Nations back in February.

Martin Haag’s side led 17-3 at the break after tries from George Nott and Sam Aspland-Robinson.

England continued to dominate in the second period and ran away with the game courtesy of tries from Joe Marchant, a penalty try, Singleton and Zach Mercer.

England Head Coach Martin Haag said: “We played some great attacking rugby, with some real intent, which is what we are trying to do.

“At times it wasn’t as accurate as we would have liked it to be. As a group we have standards we are aspiring to and want to express ourselves in our play.

“We had the intent but we just weren’t quite accurate enough but that will come. It was great to blow the cobwebs away and now we need to recover ahead of a big game on Saturday.”
