Warriors sign Samoa international Faosiliva

Warriors can today confirm the signing of Samoa international back row Alafoti Faosiliva.

The flanker, who can also play at number eight, becomes Warriors’ seventh new signing ahead of the 2016/17 Aviva Premiership season.

Faosiliva spent much of his early career on the international Sevens circuit and was part of the Samoa side that won the IRB Sevens World Series in 2009/10.

The powerhouse then had spells at European giants Toulon and with Aviva Premiership side Bath Rugby where he spent three seasons.

The 30-year-old also has 18 international caps to his name with two of those coming at last year’s Rugby World Cup.

His latest international appearance came in Samoa’s win over Tonga during June’s Pacific Nations Cup.

Head Coach Carl Hogg said: “Alafoti is a great athlete and his versatility will add greater strength and depth to our back row.

“He is a big ball-carrier with international experience. Those are key attributes which will stand him in good stead ahead of the new campaign so we’re excited about seeing what he can do out on the pitch.”

Faosiliva added: “Warriors are an ambitious Club with a clear vision which is something that really appealed to me.

“The set-up at Sixways is fantastic and everything is in place for you to succeed as a professional rugby player.

“Now I just can’t wait to get started and I’m hungry to get out there and compete for my place in the team.”
