Two Valkyries to start for Wales against Italy

Worcester Valkyries stars Shona Powell-Hughes and Dyddgu Hywel are named in the Wales Women starting 15 as they look to get their Six Nations campaign off to a winning start against Italy in Ancona on Saturday (kick-off 2pm GMT).

Wales Women have won all four of their past four fixtures – including victories against upcoming opponents Ireland and Scotland.

Wales Women Head Coach Rowland Phillips said: “Our progress to this point has been excellent. There are going to be big challenges ahead, and Italy is as big as any for us, but we'll grow as a squad for that.”

“There is consistency, but the players are aware there's strong competition for places and their performances are driven by that. They've been rewarded for continuing to push themselves to keep hold of their jerseys.”

The match will be streamed live on the Women's Six Nations Facebook page and YouTube channel.
