Valkyries players go head-to-head in Six Nations clash

Worcester Valkyries trio Rochelle Clark, Laura Keates and Lydia Thompson will face teammate Dyddgu Hywel as England Women take on Wales Women in the Six Nations at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park this Saturday (kick-off 11.30am, live on Sky Sports 3).

Former Warriors Community Coach Tamara Taylor will also start for the Red Roses as she makes her 100th international appearance.

England Head Coach Simon Middleton has kept faith with the 23 which saw off France 26-13 at Twickenham Stadium in the opening round last weekend.

He said: “Wales come to the game on a roll having built a run of five wins from five.

“They are a tough side to play at home but we are confident in our preparation and the quality of the 23 players we are sending out on Saturday.”

Meanwhile Wales Coach Rowland Phillips believes there is little need to make any changes to his matchday squad, although Valkyries star Shona Powell-Hughes misses out through injury.

He said: “I was delighted with the way the players were able to carry out our game plan under intense pressure from Italy.

“They need to take that confidence and momentum into this Saturday's game in Cardiff, because England on their day will be an altogether different proposition.”

This is the first time the two sides have faced each other since the 2016 Six Nations, when the Red Roses beat Wales on that occasion 20-13 at the Twickenham Stoop.
