Flanker Vui honoured by supporters’ locks

Chris Vui has quickly become a fans’ favourite since joining the Club in December.

Since getting his Warriors career off to a winning start at Cardiff Blues in January, Vui has helped his side to crucial Aviva Premiership victories against Saracens and Bristol Rugby.

But even after his impressive start to life at Sixways, he admits he was surprised to see supporters donning curly wigs in his honour last Sunday.

He said: “It was surprising to see fans wearing wigs as I’ve only played four games for the Club but I really do appreciate their support.

“I grew my hair just to try something new so to see fans wearing wigs was pretty cool.”

Warriors have built up an impressive record at Sixways this season, losing just five times in 14 games.

And Vui says the support the players receive on their home patch is second to none.

He continued: “It was a great atmosphere at Sixways when we defeated Bristol and that has been the same since I arrived.

“The fans have definitely created an atmosphere which makes it hard for other teams to play here.

“The crowd make an awesome noise and they get behind us every week. I love playing at Sixways and I always like to thank fans at the end of matches.”

Vui was in Spain last week to witness Barcelona’s dramatic Champions League victory over PSG as the Warriors players were given a well-earned week off.

And the 24-year-old admits he is looking forward to getting back on the pitch and helping his teammates as much as he can.

He added: “I try and do my best for the team and I’ve put in a lot of work to learn my role in the lineout.

“Ball carrying is something I pride myself on as well. I hope I can keep doing what I’m doing and help the team get momentum with the ball. We’ve got five games left and we want to get as many wins as we can.”
