O’Callaghan picks up February Player of the Month award

Warriors lock Donncha O’Callaghan has been voted as the fans’ Player of the Month for February.

The British & Irish Lion was handed the captain’s armband for Gary Gold’s first Aviva Premiership game at the helm, and helped guide his Warriors to an unforgettable 24-18 win over English and European champions Saracens.

He then led from the front as his side ran in four tries against Exeter Chiefs to earn a valuable bonus point at Sixways, as Warriors made it five points from two games against last season’s Aviva Premiership finalists.

O’Callaghan picked up 24 per cent of the votes ahead of Josh Adams (15 per cent) to win the award.

The pair were closely followed by Bryce Heem and Will Spencer who received 14 per cent of the votes each.

O’Callaghan said: “I’d like to thank the fans for voting for me and also for creating such a fantastic atmosphere against Saracens, Exeter and Bristol.

“You see how much your support means to us so let’s have the same kind of noise levels in our last few games of the season!”

Also among the votes (from most to fewest) were Ryan Bower, Ryan Mills, Chris Vui, Jackson Willison, Sam Lewis and Wynand Olivier.
