Adams named in Wales squad for summer tour

Adams hoping to build on his two Wales caps

Flying winger Josh Adams has been named in the Wales squad ahead of their summer tour to the Americas.

Adams will be part of Wales’ 31-man squad which will face South Africa in Washington DC on Saturday 2 June before travelling to Argentina for Tests against the Pumas in San Juan on Saturday 9 June and in Santa Fe on Saturday 16 June.

Adams will be hoping to add to the two Wales caps he won after being called up to his country’s NatWest 6 Nations squad earlier this season.

The 23-year-old made his Wales debut against Scotland in the opening game of the competition, before winning his second cap in his country’s clash with England.

At club level, Adams has been in instrumental form for Warriors and finished the 2017/18 campaign as the Aviva Premiership’s joint top try scorer.

He racked up 13 league tries and scored in six consecutive matches between October and December.

Wales Head Coach Warren Gatland said: “This summer is a great opportunity for this squad to build on their experience, get Test match game time under their belt and face Rugby Championship opposition.

“We have picked a squad of 31 to try and give players as much game time as possible. It shows the depth we have built in recent years that we have just one uncapped player in the squad.

“This summer is another step on our 2019 RWC path and a great opportunity to build on recent campaigns.”
