Academy youngster and four Valkyries in international action

Warriors Academy youngster Morgan French has been named on the bench for Wales Under 18s as they prepare to face South Africa Schools on Friday, while four Valkyries will be in action for England Women Under 20s.

Wales will take on their South Africa counterparts in the opening match of the U18 International Series, which will be streamed live on the S4C website and Facebook page.

The game, which will be held at the Boland Landbou Agricultural School near Paarl, is the first of three fixtures Wales will play over the coming nine days.

They will take on England at Bishops on Tuesday, followed by a meeting with France in Cape Town four days later.

A significant number of the players who featured in last year’s successful series – which saw Wales claim two victories and push France close in the final match – have swiftly progressed to Wales Under 20s and Wales Sevens, which has served to increase the profile of Under 18s rugby.

Meanwhile Valkyries players Charlie Wilcock (pictured), Brooke Bradley, Akina Gondwe and Cara Brincat have all been named in the England Women Under 20s squad to face Canada today at Acadia University, Wolfville (kick-off 10.30pm BST).

The match is the first of a three-game tour for England and is available live online via Rugby Canada.

England last played Canada in a three-Test series at Trent College, Nottingham in 2016 with England winning the series 3-0.
