Schonert called into England training squad

Warriors tighthead prop Nick Schonert has been included in England’s 35-strong squad to prepare for the second Quilter International against New Zealand at Twickenham next Saturday.

The uncapped Schonert was involved in the recent England training camp in Portugal but was left out of the match squad for yesterday’s narrow victory over South Africa at Twickenham.

Schonert joins his Warriors team-mate Ben Te’o, who started in the centre against the Springboks, in England’s provisional squad for the All Blacks Test.

Schonert, 27, played for England in their non-cap match against the Barbarians at Twickenham at the end of last season having missed out on the tour of Argentina in the summer of 2017 because of a hand injury.

England’s medical team will assess flanker Tom Curry of Sale Sharks who suffered an ankle injury against South Africa. Gloucester number eight Ben Morgan has not been considered for the second Autumn International due to injury.
