Academy duo agree first-team deals as Cosgrove signs

Warriors have illustrated their long-term ambitions for success by agreeing first-team contracts with Ted Hill and Ollie Lawrence.

The duo, who came through the Three Pears Academy, both made their debut in November 2017 in the Anglo-Welsh Cup clash with Sale Sharks.

Hill has been a revelation this season, making his full England debut in November – just eight weeks after appearing in the Gallagher Premiership for the first time. He previously won the Under 20s Six Nations with England as a 17-year-old.

Hill said: “This is my home Club so I am delighted to have signed a first-team contract. We have a very exciting journey ahead of us and I am really excited to be part of that.

“The Club have helped me become an England international and my focus now is on working as hard as I can to help us move up the Premiership table.”

Lawrence has impressed during eight first-team appearances and has excelled for the Cavaliers.

The highly-rated 19-year-old trained with the full England squad ahead of their tour to South Africa over the summer and has represented his country at Under 18 and Under 20 levels.

Lawrence said: “I have really enjoyed my time at Warriors and feel I have been able to learn and develop as a player under the guidance of the coaches over the last five years.

“I am grateful to the other centres at the Club, especially Millsy, Wynand, Francois Venter and Ashley Beck, who have all helped me get to a stage where I can push for a place in our Premiership squad.

Meanwhile, Warriors have signed loosehead prop Jack Cosgrove from Bristol Bears. Cosgrove, 24, is also a product of the Warriors Academy and has returned to Sixways after spells with Edinburgh Rugby and Bristol.

Cosgrove, who was part of Bristol’s Championship-winning squad, made one appearance for Bristol in this season’s Gallagher Premiership and has been recruited by Warriors on an initial contract until the end of the season.
