Weir called up by Scotland

Warriors fly-half Duncan Weir has been called into Scotland’s squad for their Autumn Tests against Fiji, South Africa and Argentina.

Weir, 27, has been in sparkling form since he joined Warriors from Edinburgh during the summer and he helped to mastermind a 31-12 victory over Leicester Tigers at Welford Road on Saturday.

Weir won the last of his 27 Scotland caps against Italy in the 2017 Six Nations and was overlooked for their initial squad for the Autumn Tests.

But he is one of six players who have been added to Gregor Townsend’s squad following injuries to Blade Thompson, James Lang, former Warriors flanker David Denton and Matt Scott.

Weir is the sixth Warriors player to be included in an Autumn International squad following Ben Te’o, Nick Schonert and Ted Hill (England), Josh Adams (Wales) and Joe Taufete’e (USA).

Scotland open their autumn programme against Fiji at Murrayfield on Saturday followed by South Africa and Argentina on the following Saturdays.
