Warriors seek Junior Academy Strength & Conditioning Coaches

Worcester Warriors have opened applications for two Junior Academy Strength & Conditioning Coaches.

The successful applicants will work within the Strength & Conditioning department of Worcester Warriors – a Gallagher Premiership Rugby club and Academy –  and will report to the Academy Manager, Head of Performance and Lead Academy Strength & Conditioner.

Working in a dynamic and innovative environment, the successful candidates will take a lead role in planning, delivering and reporting on all aspects of the strength & conditioning programme of the junior Academy players (aged 13-18 years).

The Role:
• Lead S&C provision for the junior academy (13-18) for the Player Development Group and Developing Player Programme
• Plan, deliver and monitor the S&C programmes for players in the U18’s, U16’s U15’s Academy squad.
• Undertake regular testing of the PDG players to confirm the effectiveness of the programmes that have been implemented
• Manage all part-time staff and interns within the Junior Academy – allocating work programmes and assessing their effectiveness.
• Monitor playing loads of junior academy players to ensure physical development goals are met across the season
• Assist in S&C provision for the senior non-integrated academy group as and when required.
• Develop & maintain S&C links between colleges & schools; delivering CPD to staff and assisting in delivery to players
• Liaise with medical staff on returning injured players to performance from the age group squads
• Deliver one-on-one S&C sessions for England Academy players (16-18)
• Liaise with England age group performance staff on all Worcester Warriors players involved in international programmes
• Ensure that players progressing from the U18s into the full-time Academy are prepared physically for the demands of professional rugby
• Provide education sessions to players on aspects of their wider lifestyle (sleep, recovery, social life etc), which will affect their physical development and progress within a professional rugby environment
• Attend Academy games & festivals. Leading the physical preparation for the game to include – warm up, hydration, pre/post game nutrition and post-game recovery strategies.
• Manage and quality assure the level of S&C support to the DPP groups. Undertaking regular CPD for DPP staff and keeping them in line with the clubs Academy S&C philosophy
• Undertake other administrative duties relating to the Worcester Warriors Rugby Academy as required.

The Person:
– Degree level qualification in Strength & Conditioning, Sport Science or a related discipline
– UKSCA accreditation or equivalent
– Minimum of 12 months experience of working within a Strength & Conditioning department in elite level sport
– Good understanding of elite level rugby union and knowledge of developing young athletes
– Organised, efficient and self-driven in all aspects of work
– Capable of developing effective relationships with other staff members and players alike
– High level of IT skills, with the ability to analyse and present data to coaching & other performance services staff
-Driving licence

Contract – Permanent with salary to be discussed at interview.
