Warriors fly-half Duncan Weir is enjoying his rugby and reaping the benefits of playing in a talented back-line.
Weir joined Warriors from Edinburgh during the summer and his sparkling form so far this season has helped him win a recall to Scotland’s squad for their autumn international series after an absence of more than 18 months.
Weir, who has 27 caps, has trained without Scotland for the last two weeks without making their matchday squad but is delighted that his club form has been recognised by the national selectors.
Weir said: “It has been good to be in that environment again and I have thoroughly enjoyed it.
“I have taken every opportunity as it has come. I have been called up late so I understand that I am maybe a later headache in the selection battle.
“But I am just looking to get back in that environment, train hard and if anything comes my way I would love to take it.
“But I need to do the business with club form first and that merits pushing for international honours.”
In addition to his accurate goal-kicking, Weir has proved an influential playmaker for Warriors and he has also scored four tries in eight matches since he arrived at Sixways.
“You can only merit international credits by playing well at club level and that’s the only thing I can focus on in this period,” Weir said.
“I know the World Cup is on the horizon and everyone is talking about it but, for me, it’s about doing the hard graft and taking every opportunity in my stride.
“I’m having really good fun this year and that has come across in my style of play. I’m just enjoying myself and not getting hung up on things.
“I have got a tremendous and athletic back line outside me at Warriors and it’s been really good fun giving the guys the ball and reaping the benefits of getting a second touch and scoring some tries.
“I am just looking to have fun and wherever that takes me I will be giving 110 per cent.”
