Warriors Head Coach Rory Duncan spoke to the media ahead of Saturday’s European Challenge Cup match against Pau.
Here’s what Rory had to say:
On last Friday’s match in Pau
- It wasn’t our best performance. The weather conditions made it difficult but we conceded two soft tries which put us on the back foot.
On the return match this weekend
- Looking forward to the return match. It’s a new experience for me playing a team back-to-back. We are looking forward to taking Pau on again.
Players signing new contracts
- Jamie Shillcock: He’s another product of our Academy. The way that we are going to build this club is by retaining the talent coming through from the Academy.
- Michael Heaney: He’s started a few games recently. He’s come from a Championship club and proved that he is good enough to play in the Premiership.
Isaac Miller’s return from injury
- He stood out in the pre-season match in Treviso. Unfortunately Isaac got injured there but he has made a great recovery. He brings a lot of energy, he trains hard and he’s not scared to put his head in dark places.
Injuries
- Jamie Shillcock. Suffered a leg injury and due to see a specialist this week. We are waiting on the medical report but hopefully it’s not too serious.
- Andrew Kitchener and Darren Barry: Clashed heads making a tackle. Won’t be considered for selection this weekend.
- Michael Fatialofa: He will be considered for selection this weekend. It’s exciting to have him available.
- Marco Mama and Francois Hougaard: They have been training with the squad this week. We will make a call on them later in the week.
