Warriors thank fans for supporting Christmas Campaign

Warriors have thanked supporters who donated items to their Christmas Campaign which again fuelled the Worcester Foodbank.

The campaign, launched by players Chris Pennell and Justin Clegg last month, was supported by the club’s playing and off-field staff with collection boxes for supporters at the recent homes matches against Harlequins and Pau.

Almost 400 essential items were collected and delivered to the foodbank this week by youngsters involved in Warriors’ Hitz programme.

Carol Hart, Chief Executive Officer of Warrriors Community Foundation, said: “Worcester Warriors and its Community Foundation have long-established links with homeless projects around Worcester.  We are committed to supporting people who live on the streets and those who rely on voluntary support to survive extreme poverty.

“Every year we ask the Warriors Family to donate food to the Worcester Food Bank to help as many people through Christmas and the New Year as possible.

“We also know that homelessness and poverty is not seasonal, our initiatives work throughout the year and we are currently planning the next Big Worcester Sleep out which will take place on April 4 here at Sixways.

“This event will bring together people from across Worcestershire to raise vital funds for Worcester Homeless projects such as Warriors Community Foundation, Maggs Day Centre and St. Paul’s Hostel.

“Every day is a challenge for people who are homeless or living in extreme poverty.  Worcester Warriors is a Community Club with long-established links in areas of highest need and it is our responsibility to ensure that people in our community are supported not just through Christmas but throughout the year.

“We would like to thank all those who donated so generously to support this year’s Christmas Campaign.”
