Butchers boost for Valkyries

Valkyries have further strengthened their Tyrrells Premier 15s squad with the signing of Wales flanker Alisha Butchers.

Butchers, 21, has won 20 international caps in the last three years and has joined Valkyries from Scarlets with immediate effect.

“It’s great to bring Alisha into our squad.  She has a real physical edge to her game, and despite being relatively young has a great game understanding,” said Roy Davies, Valkyries Director of Rugby.

“She has proved herself on the international stage and I’m confident she will be an asset at Tyrrells Premier 15s level.”

Butchers, who played for Wales in the sevens tournament at last year’s Commonwealth Games on Australia’s Gold Coast, is the sixth new player to join Valkyries in the past month.

She follows her Wales Sevens and former Scarlets back-row colleague and Alex Callender, Wales Under-18s full-back Kenzie Tutton, fly-half Millie Williams (Cardiff Blues), flanker Katie Jenkins (Firwood Waterloo) and fly-half Megan Goddard who rejoined after a stint with Gloucester-Hartpury.

Butchers’ signing comes as a boost to Valkyries ahead of Saturday’s league match against Gloucester-Hartpury at Sixways (kick-off 2.00pm).
