Volunteers wanted for Warriors Walkathon trial day

Warriors Community Foundation is looking for volunteers aged over 60 to take part in a trial day next month for a fundraising Warriors Walkathon which will take place next year.

The Warriors Walkathon will be over a 23.5 mile route around the waterways of Worcester and Droitwich. The course has been broken down into ten manageable sections and participants will be able to complete only the sections that suit them.

To test the route the organisers have arranged the trial day which will take place on September 20, starting at Sixways at 9am.

The organisers are looking for between 12 and 20 volunteers aged over 60 to walk some or all of the Walkathon route to test the plans forstewarding, transport, first aid and rest points.

The Warriors Walkathon will take place on September 18 2020 and all proceeds raised by the walkers and through sponsorship will be split between the Warriors Community Foundation’s award-winning Tackling Dementia Café – held every Wednesday at Sixways – and the Alzheimer’s Society.

Volunteers for the Warriors Walkathon trial day on September 20 2019 should contact: walkathon@warriors.co.uk or Oliver Herrmann on 07538 389295.
