Warriors Women Team News | Varley returns to starting XV

Summer signing Mary-Ann Gittings is set to make her Warriors Women full debut when her side travel to Richmond on Saturday (kick-off 5.00pm).

Gittings, signed from Gloucester-Hartpury, is one of four changes as she replaces Carys Cox at full-back.

The former England Under-20s player had come off the bench in the opening day defeat to Wasps FC, while Megan Varley, a replacement last week against Harlequins Women, swaps positions with Jade Shekells.

Vicky Foxwell, who currently holds a 100 per cent kicking record from the tee, joins Varley in midfield, while Cara Clarke and Caitlin Lewis continue on the wings.

The final change in the backs sees Brooke Bradley come in for Ffion Lewis, recently named in the Wales Women November internationals squad, at scrum-half.

Megan Goddard will partner Bradley at fly-half, in her third consecutive start of the season.

The one change in the pack sees Elizabeth Shermer promoted off the bench to replace Gwen Crabb in the second-row, where she will join captain Lyndsay O’Donnell.

Akina Gondwe, Carmen Tremelling and Lauren Leatherland remain as the front row, while the back-row of Taz Bricknell, Lucy Lockhart and Alex Callender, which impressed last week in the loss to Quins, is also unchanged.

Lisa Campbell returns to the replacements from injury while Sara Moreira could make her maiden first-team appearance of the season if she comes off the bench.

Narcisse Jordan, Laura Thomas and Zoe Heeley join Campbell and Moreira as replacements.

Meanwhile, Vicky Laflin is named as captain of the Development XV, who face Richmond Development (3pm kick-off).

Angharad de Smet returns at full-back, while Jen Vermeulen, Helena Bunce, Megan Young and Eleanor Beech all come into the starting XV from the bench.
