Sixways landmark sadly felled

There will be something missing when Warriors supporters return to Sixways for the Gallagher Premiership match against Sale Sharks on Saturday November 30.

The large oak tree in Car Park A close to the entrance to Sixways had been a familiar landmark at Sixways for many years but it had to be felled on safety grounds over the weekend.

A large section of the tree collapsed on Saturday November 2 and further investigations by tree surgeons Faithful Tree Care and Three Pears Tree Care revealed that the ancient oak was rotten at its core and could not be saved.

The remainder of the oak was felled and removed over the weekend.

The oak stood alongside the original first team pitch when Worcester RFC relocated to Sixways from Bevere in 1975 and remained in place during the many subsequent ground developments at the stadium.
