Warriors Women warmed up for the resumption of Tyrrells Premier 15s action next week with a morale-boosting 33-0 victory over The Army in a friendly at Sixways on Friday.
With a month-long gap between league matches Jo Yapp, Warriors Women’s new Director of Rugby was keen to get her players back into action.
The Army gave Warriors Women a good workout ahead of the visit of Bristol Bears to Sixways on Sunday December 1 for the Sepsis Awareness Day fixture (kick-off 2.00pm).
Warriors Women ran in five tries with full-back Carys Cox crossing for the opener after only five minutes with fly-half Sarah Nicholas, a recent recruit from Gloucester-Hartpury, adding the conversion on her first start.
Wing Vicky Laflin went over after 17 minutes with Nicholas again adding the extras and Warriors went into the break with a 21-0 advantage after centre Megan Varley touched down for a try that Nicholas again improved.
Varley’s centre partner Jade Shekells scored the fourth try 15 minutes into the second half, which went unconverted, before Laflin rounded off the try-scoring when she bagged her brace ten minutes from time.
Replacement Megan Goddard, who took over the kicking duties, added the conversion to complete a good night’s work.
