Grove to swim Channel to raise funds for Acorns

Former Warriors and Scotland centre Alex Grove is preparing to swim the English Channel next summer to raise money for Acorns Children’s Hospice.

Grove worked closely with Acorns during his time with Warriors and has decided to attempt the 21-mile swim from Dover to Cap Griz Nez in France on August 1.

Grove, who is now a lead member of the new Warriors Ambassador programme, has already started training for his challenge and has undertaken a number of marathon open water swims including the Great North Swim at Lake Windermere, Dock to Dock at London’s Royal Victoria Docks and the Thames Marathon.

“During my time at Worcester Warriors we worked closely with Acorns and I remember returning home and reflecting on my first visit and thinking that Acorns is an incredibly special place,” Grove said

“Given the seriousness of the children’s conditions, everyone seemed very positive and there were always smiles on faces.

“My wife, Tash, and I are extremely lucky to have two healthy children, Imogen and Ottilie. We still live in Worcester, not far from the hospice, so choosing this wonderful charity was an easy decision.”
